Tip #1 – Face the Mirror

This effective technique will reveal how you exactly look and sound. Learn from your facial expressions and use it in the interview. If possible, prepare some questions of your own and try answering them (in front of the mirror). This will boost your confidence level.

Tip #2 – Power Pose

Strike a power pose: relieve any stress with simple stretches & posturing. Just 2 minutes of such exercise releases a lot of strain and changes body chemistry opening up the body. This method shall be applied just minutes before the interview.

Tip #3 – First Impression

‘The first impression is the last impression’. Work on your initial approach, inside the company doors and interview room. The interviewer checks 5 things in particular: Attitude, Confidence, Voice, Punctuality and Knowledge.

Tip #4 – Groom Up

Getting well-dressed is very important. No need for expensive wearing like Van Heusen or Armani! A simple ‘Formal’ outfit will do. Remember, the interviewer needs people who look & act smart. A firm handshake with the interviewer would also be a nice start.

Tip #5 – Be Attentive

Observe your interview surroundings carefully. Look interviewer in the eye. Your facial and body expressions should match what you say. Any hint of casualty could lead to interview failure.

Tip #6 – Be Your King/Queen

Rely on yourself. Don’t agree with everything. Establish and prove your viewpoint! You need the internship but it’s the employer who wants to hire.

Tip #7 – Understand the Question

The usual questions become tough to answer due to the stress-full environment. That is why listening & understanding the question carefully becomes important. It won’t be a problem to ask your interviewer for clarification or repeating a question. You have to specifically know what the interviewer is looking for.

Tip #8 – Focus on Positives

The more you focus on positives, the more likely you are close to getting the internship. Highlight your skills, goals, passion and how everything about you can benefit the company. Remember you don’t have experience here.

Tip #9 – Surprise Factory

An interview room contains bundles of surprises. The interviewer might ask you to tell a ‘clean joke or ask awkward questions or complete the situation-type questions’. They want to check your presence of mind, thought process, problem-solving capacities and willingness to face different situations at the workplace. Use the ‘STAR’ technique.

Tip #10 – Research the Company

This is a very effective technique as understanding the company pre-interview will give you a heads-up for the interview. You might gain the right perspective and insight thereby solidifying your interview preparations.
